Photoflexer Photos

Photo Scavenger Hunt

My group has not completed the scavenger hunt yet, we still need a few more photos. I thing the "funnest" picture that we took was when Mohommad put some senior in a very weak headlock and then the senior put Mohommad in one and it was a tight one. All our photos are inside school.

Photography/Editing

What do you know about photography and/or photo editing? Do you take photos? How do you take photos? Do you edit photos before posting them on social media? How do you edit them? Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?

I don't really know anything about photography and editing. I don't take photos that often. When I take a photo it will be on my phone. Sometimes I will edit a photo before putting it on social media. I will crop them down or maybe add a filter that makes the photo look better. I have no background knowledge on photography and editing, I don't have any interest in it and don't really care for it that much.

Digital Age

What do you love about the "digital age" that we currently live in?  What do you dislike about it?  What are positive ways you use technology in your life?  What are some things that come along with technology that you don't like?  Please be thorough in your post-- at least 5-7 sentences.

I like all the new technologies that are coming out. I do not like that all the kids that grow up with technology is want to use that 24-7. Kids think they can have all the new technology right when it comes out. A positive way I use technology is for school work. Things that I don't like is as new technology comes out, it gets more and more expensive. Another thing for example is the iPhone, as it advances the price goes up, the phone gets thinner, and it gets a lot larger. Soon an iPhone is going to be the size of an iPad Mini. That is not what someone should want to carry around.

Partner Presentation

Was it hard to work with your partner without talking?  Can you imagine conducting business in this way on a regular basis? What did you learn from this experience?

I don't think it was that hard to work with my partner without talking because we were able to use the chat feature in google slides to converse. Doing business like this on a regular basis in my opinion wouldn't be that hard to do since we can still converse. From this experience I learned you can pretty much to something like this from anywhere at any time.

Website

        • Take a moment to reflect on your experience building a website...
        • Did you enjoy the assignment?
        • Would you design a website again in the future?
        • What did you like most/least about using Wix?
        • Would you use a website building program again in the future?
I kind of enjoyed the assignment, if we had to do another one I would be okay with that. Wix was a very easy website to use and it was free. If I had to build a website in the future I would probably use wix.

    Thanksgiving Break

Blog Post: Tell me about your Thanksgiving Break... did you spend time with family & friends? Did you travel over the holiday? Did you participate in "Black Friday"?  Did you attend the State Football Game?  Tell me all about your 5-day weekend.  Also, how hard was it to get up this morning? :-)

For Thanksgiving Break I went to Florida and I went to the Nascar race on Sunday in Miami, Florida. While at the race I went to the Coca-Cola Tent and got a signature from a driver and went to the pits to see all the cars. When I first got into the pits they pulled my favorite drivers car out in front of my and I got a good picture of it. Then I headed south and went to Naples, Florida where some of my family was and I spent time with them. I didn't participate in Black Friday, I stayed a my uncles house to watch football. I did not go to the football game because I was out of town. Coming home was hard going from 80 degree weather to 20 degree weather and an iced over car. Getting up this morning actually wasn't that hard.

    Applications

How often do you utilize applications "apps" on your phone/tablet to make your life easier or more convenient?  Can you imagine life without "apps"?  How would your daily life be different if "apps" did not exist?  Link your app presentation to your blog when finished.

I don't really use apps that can make my life easier or more convenient on my phone that often. The only app that I use to do that is Photomath and that doesn't happen much at all. Life without apps in all like games and other things would be very different from some but not for others. Adults would go back to how they lived before they had a phone that couldn't have apps and children that grow up in today's society would have to change up  a lot of their life style. If apps didn't exist I would probably focus more on my studies.

    Global Issue Relection

    • Did you enjoy learning about the global issue you selected?
      • If you had the chance to do this again, would you select a different issue? Why/why not?
    • What tool/activity was your very favorite from this project?
      • Symbaloo, Evernote, Mindmapping, email, essay, Inforgraphic, presentation etc. - please explain in detail.
    • If we did not focus on a global issue to learn Web 2.0 tools, do you have a suggestion as to what type of theme/topic you would prefer to research when learning these tools?

Not really, I don't like having to do research on topics like this, I find them very stressful at times. If I had to do this again I would probably do the same topic, this is a nice topic to learn about and there are a lot of resources to find information on for it.

My favorite was probably Symabaloo because I used that program last year and got to know how to use it. Symbaloo is also a great tool to use in your personal life to keep websites you use organized.

I don't really have a preference of what we have to research when learning the Web 2.0 tools.

    What makes a presentation memorable

What makes a presentation memorable?  What makes a presentation stand out from all the rest?  How will you make your Global Issue presentation memorable & stand out for the students in this class?

A presentation is made memorable if you really convey your message to the audience well, and the people spread the information that you shared with them to more people and your topic becomes well known. A presentation that would stand out from the rest could be one that makes the original presenter someone very important to the world, and their topic possibly becomes part of reality. I will make it to where my message is really conveyed out to the audience and people may take some action to help with ending Wildlife Extinction.

    Game 5 World Series

I was very hype for the start of the Royals game last night. But after the first inning, I lost some hope of us winning it right there. As the game went I started to regain my hope because I remembered it usually takes till after the third time around the batting order for the Royals to heat up, and my theory was proven right once again last night. But that was after I fell asleep watching the game. I woke up and saw that they won, and I was very angry and happy at the same time. I am very happy that the Royals were able to pull it off, I hope we can do it again next year.

    Hands-Free Scooter Current Event

    Matthew S. Schoessel
    10/22/15
    Titans Love Their Hand-Free Scooters
    The Tennessean
The Tennessee Titans football team have players.  They are riding the self-balancing hands free scooters.  They are riding them around the locker room before games/practice.  They riding them in the stadium before games and practices in the locker room.  They are riding them because they are fun and a cool new technology.

This relates to emerging technology because the hands free scooter is a really cool new technology that a lot of people want to have. Something cool that I learned was a lot of the players just ride around the stadium for fun, and when they go to the film room they get off of them and they are all lined up like a “nerdy biker gang” would do.

    Infographic

    • What is an infographic?
    • What is the purpose of an infographic?
    • What type of information is best displayed in an infographic?
    • How can an infographic help convey your message to an audience?
    • How might you use an infographic in your class assignments?
    • Find 2 examples of infographics that you think are very cool/useful to you.  Post the infographics on your blog & make sure to cite where you found them.

It is like a chart of diagram that can represent information or data. The purpose is to help convince people of something and show them the good/bad things about it. The type of information displayed should all be facts, that can help persuade the viewer of your topic/issue. It can help convey the message buy having great supporting facts and a good graph/chart. You may use an infographic when presenting survey data.

    Wildlife Essay with comments

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LcTE7jYoPe7ILKRkSfwVy1I8ekgS3Biwm7MHB1P6J-g/edit?usp=sharing

Cole and Siler did their comments. But I his "resolve" on them and one of Chris' and they went away. But they did them.

    Do less with more focus...

Think about the quote above. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work?  I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

I think this means when you focus too hard, you can't get a lot done. I know that is what it is with me. When I try and focus really hard, and focus too hard. I don't get a whole lot done. With my life, I need to focus, but not at 100% so I can get things done. With my school work, like when working on essays if I focus too hard I get frustrated and don't get anything done. Just like the first couple days when we were working on our essays in this class, when I relaxed I got a lot of work done. When I am taking notes and learning something new, that is when I really need to focus in so I can get the stuff in my mind, like in math so I know how to do the problems. This works for me, because when I don't focus 100% when working on projects I relax some and get a lot of work done. When learning something new I focus 100% to learn the stuff, then relax and get the work done.

    Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Tell me what you believe this cartoon is trying to say. Do you agree or disagree with this idea? Try and look at this from two different perspectives. What is your perspective? What would be an adult/teacher's perspective?

I believe this cartoon is trying to say that Americans don't have good study habits. We don't focus on the studying and get sidetracked by music, other things on our phone, and TV. And that other countries like China and India have children that focus on their studies and really care. I agree with this because in China, they are really good at math and in India they are really good at science, that is what they do. A teachers perspective on this, is probably about the same as mine. American has a lot of kids that do not have good study habits, and that is why they don't do good in classes. Other countries have kids that do have good study habits, and their parents would be very angry if their child had a B like an 89.99%, they want their child to have all A's. Here in America parents are okay if their child has a B or a C, they want them to have A's, but don't care as much.

    Homecoming Weekend

Homecoming weekend was pretty fun, but it wasn't exactly what I had hoped for. We went to dinner at Garozzo's Italian restaurant, that was probably me favorite part of the weekend. The dance was the part that wasn't exactly what I had hoped for, it wasn't as fun as expected. But overall it was a fun weekend.

    Homecoming Weekend

The thing I am most excited for during Homecoming weekend is the Homecoming Dance. I am going to the Homecoming football game tonight. Our group has reservations at Garozzos Italian restaurant Saturday evening, then we will go to the dance.

    Ted Talk Reflection/Questions (Repost)

Do you agree: Yes I agree with it.
Why: Because people spend too much time on their cell phones and need to get off them and spend time with people and interact with them.
Will I change current behavior: I will, I believe I spend too much time on my phone.
Impact: I think the future will be just like what the Ted Talk doesn't want to happen. People will be on their phones all the time and rely on technology and not interact with people as much as they should. They will go into isolation.

    Wildlife Extinction

There are more animals than I thought that are endangered and ready to go extinct. I thought there were only a few species in the world that were endangered, but there are 50 species that are considered "Critically Endangered" or "Endangered". There are almost 56 billion wild animals that are killed each year, which isn't helping with Wildlife Extinction.

    What is email?

Email is like digitally writing a letter to someone, accept it's free so you don't have to pay for postage and envelopes. I use my email when I need to send myself a document from a computer at school which I need for homework. I use it to sometimes communicate with family. I also you it so I know when stuff goes on sale at sporting goods stores. People in life use it to communicate with their co-workers or bosses, or friends and family. I don't think I know a whole lot about "email etiquette".

    Wildlife Extinction

1.) Thesis Statement: Wildlife Extinction is a major issue in our world right now, animal breeds population numbers are dropping a lot, and once all of the animals of a species are gone they are gone forever. We don't want a species to die because they all have a purpose in our world if its spiders keeping bugs out of our houses, or lions that are keeping the population of other animals from getting too high.

2.) 3 research questions/arguments: Why is Wildlife Extinction important? What are the causes of wildlife extinction? How can we help stop the extinction?

3.) Yes, my questions all have articles in ever note.

4.) I would encourage everyone to take any possible action they can/want to take to help with this topic. You should have a negative reaction toward this topic because it is a terrible thing that is happening right now in the world.

10 years from now I will be...

10 years from now I see myself as a Mechanical Engineer. I will probably be living in either St. Louis or Ft. Myers, Florida because those are two places that I want to live in my future. I will probably be living in a single story house, and I will have a dog.

    Add on:
I will see myself living a happy life. I may be married or getting married. Once I do get married, I will have either 1 or 2 kids at most. I will live in a nice neighborhood. I will live close to my family so if they need my help I can help them.

    Global Issue: Wild Animal Extinction

The topic I found yesterday that interested me the most was Wild Animal Extinction. This hasn't really affected me life very much, but this is a very important thing because all animals have a purpose in life from spiders who eat other insects to lions that keep populations of other wild animals from getting too large. I believe this will be the final topic that I choose.

Different perspectives on the issue: There is a positive and negative perspective on this issue. The positive side is some animals populations are not getting over populated to where there aren't enough resources to take care of them. The negative side is some species (Amur Leopard, Black Rhino, Cross River Gorilla, Hawksbill Turtle, etc.) have populations that are getting critically low. World Wild Life shows there are 17 species that have a CRITICALLY low number. And many many more that are getting close to that, which are considered as Endangered at this moment.

Are there people for and against issue: I believe there are people that are for and against this issue. There are a lot of animal lovers and experts in the world that do not want animals to go extinct because they will be gone forever. There are people who live off these animals staying alive because they hunt them and sell their meat and fur for money so they can survive, and people who do safari tours that they have to be able to find the animals and show them to people. There are also people who are against saving all these species from going extinct. They may have been attacked or had family/friends attacked by an animal and they don't want it around anymore. There are also people who really just don't care.

Do people disagree on this issue: Yes, the people who hate specific species of animals would disagree in helping them save the animals and letting the species re-populate to have sufficient numbers to not be classified as endangered.

Is there a topic that can cause controversy: I can't currently think of a topic that would cause controversy with this.

    Global Issues

1.) Wild Animal Extinction- there are a lot of animals going extinct (Polar Bears, Pandas), I would like to learn more about this topic because it is very serious that animals are going extinct and we don't want that to happen.

2.) Global Warming- all the pollution in the world is melting the ice caps and eventually that could totally wipe out Florida and it would be under water. I would like to learn more about this because I would love to move to Florida and eventually I will and I don't want Florida to be under water.

3.) International Terrorism- (ISIS, Osama Bin Laden) Those are two of the biggest terrorists in the world, they do terrible things to people and destroy a lot of peoples lives. I want to learn more about this topic because terrorism can destroy people lives.

4.) Nuclear Weapons- a nuke can take out a lot of our country. Russia has the most powerful and the most in terms of numbers, if we get on their bad side, they can launch them to us and take out our whole country. I would like to learn more about Nuclear Weapons because more and more countries are getting their hands on them and we can all be dead in an instant with them.

5.) Overpopulation- there are countries that are getting too many people in them and they don't have sufficient resources to take care of all of the people (food, water, fuel). I do not want to learn more about this topic because there isn't a whole lot I can do about that as a 14 year old, also that isn't really impacting our country at this moment in time.

    PSA Reflection

By watching these PSA's, I learned about some terrible things that happen in the world. People don't think about these things in their everyday lives. Some of the topics that had the biggest impact on me would be Child Invisibility, Racial Sensitivity, and Poaching. These, to me, are the most important. I chose these three because of the topic, they are very serious topics and they need to be ended.

    3 Day Weekend

On Saturday I didn't do much. I went to LifeTime for a couple of hours with my parents, I watched TV, and played on my phone. Sunday was the best day over the weekend. I went to church in the morning and when I got back I set up for my Fantasy Football draft at 12:30. My team is pretty good, I believe I will do well this season. My brother and his room mate came over for dinner and we had smoked ribs and chicken wings.  Monday I didn't do much, I slept in and when I got up went back to LifeTime for a couple of hours. Then played on my phone/watched TV. After dinner my parents and I watched the movie Taken 3, then I went to bed.

    Kids These Days

Kids these days are too loud. They spend too much time on their phones, and other electronics. They watch too much TV. They are SUPER annoying. I get ding-dong ditched all the time and I feel like shooting them with a paintball gun. Kids use too many abbreviations. Kids should be like we were when we were kids, we respected our elders and just played around outside all day. They complain about how hot it is outside and when I was a kid we didn't care. I could pee on their little electronics and not care one bit.

How to Make a Good PSA

You need a good message to distribute. Use a radio station, TV station for commercial, or YouTube. Keep audience in mind, make it eligible for them to understand. 15, 30, or 60 seconds. Need good director for a video. Then submit it to everyone on your media list so they can share it with the people they know, and so on.

What is a Public Service Announcement?  (If you don't know what it is, Google it.)
In your own words, now tell me what it is?  What are they used for?  Can you recall an example of a PSA (or PSA's) you've seen before?  Is there a specific PSA that made a huge impact on you?

It is when an announcement is made and it raises awareness about the topic's issue so we can stop people from doing whatever they are doing. It can be a video or an article. We use them so we can change attitudes and behavior towards an issue. I can recall three examples: Drunk driving, Texting and driving, and bullying. I think the one that made the biggest impact on me would have to be Texting and Driving.

    Prezi Reflection

I think Prezi is easier to use, because at Prairie Star we started using it in 6th grade and I never really used Power Point. I think you can use either to make an effective presentation, they present in different fashions but they are both very effective. I can not think of a time when I had to create a presentation where one would have been better than the other.

    Response to "Words for teenagers"

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

My thoughts are for what that person said. Teenagers need to stop being lazy cry babies and actually do something for the world, and their parents and start paying them back for all that they have done for you. Kids are taking advantage of their parents and the world around them. But their are some good teenagers that actually do stuff to help the world and do things for their parents.

This makes my feel like this newspaper clipping needs to be shared with the millions of teens across the nation. This doesn't make me feel very good, because so many teens mistreat the world and take advantage of their parents.
